Instructions for taking a CME Course
Each CME course should take approximately 1 hour to complete.
- Each CME course consists of the following components:
- Full-Text Article.
- CME Quiz.
- Course Evaluation.
- CME courses within AHA Journals CME can be accessed in the following ways:
- The online Table of Contents - Articles associated with a given CME course will be designated by a CME link adjacent to each article's title.
- The navigation box - Articles associated with a given CME course will have a CME link in their right-hand navigation box.
- AHA Journals CME homepage.
- The journal specific homepage.
- The following instructions apply:
- Select the CME course through one of the interfaces described above.
- Read the corresponding full-text article(s) associated with the selected CME course in its entirety.
- After reading the article(s) in the course, you can access the CME quiz by selecting the "Quiz" link provided on the course contents page.
- Complete all questions on the quiz. Select SUBMIT to process your score. Note: The CME system will give an error if any questions are left unanswered.
- For those quizzes requiring a passing grade, if a passing score is not achieved, you will be asked to try again. Use the "back" button on your browser to return to the submit page. On completing the question(s) missed, select the SUBMIT button again.
- When a passing score is achieved (where applicable), the correct answers will be highlighted.
- A link to the preferred answer in the context of the reading material may also be provided, either before or after passing the quiz.
- Please select the "Evaluate" link to evaluate the associated CME course, or select My CME Summary to access your CME summary page that indicates credit(s) earned, along with a link to a printable copy of your CME certificate.
- Token usage
- Each time you successfully complete an AHA Journals CME course, one token will be deducted from your account balance. Check your balance of CME tokens here.
